THE FOUNDATION FOR LIFE SCIENCES is a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting health research.Its current primary objective is to raise funds for the SAD Kids project, which is operated by the Health Psychology Unit, a self-contained unit at the University of Technology Sydney. The Foundation is approved by the Federal Government for tax deductibility of gifts.

THE HEALTH PSYCHOLOGY UNIT is part of the University of Technology, Sydney, located on the grounds of the Royal North Shore Hospital.The Unit is entirely self-funding; it does not receive any government funding and is supported entirely by donations from business organisations and the public.

Since 2000, a major focus of the Unit's work has been in working with young people who have significant difficulties with depression, anxiety, anger or high levels of stress. A range of programs have been developed. All of these focus on providing coping strategies to help participants feel in greater control so that they adopt a more adaptive approach to positively change attitudes about their lives and aiding integration into the community.
